It’s the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. I’m not going to comment here, as there’s plenty out there and anything I say would likely be said elsewhere. But here are some good links.
For general information and a description of the day, see the UN”s announcement.
To see the advocacy efforts from a treatment perspective, see the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims.
Human Rights Education Associates also has a nice page with resources for educator, lawyers, people they call “human rights monitors” (I think that’s anyone with a camera in their cell phone… at least in Iran).
For the human rights blogoperspective, see the Witness blog. Witness is a great organization in general, and everyone should know about them.
